MissVJ - Shoe Shopper Extraordinaire! has been kind enough to try on and review the various versions of the d'orsay flat that I have been advocating for Spring. MissVJ loves shoes, both flats and heels and is always willing to try a new style. She will not sacrifice comfort for fashion because she knows my mantra well - "Ain't nobody pretty when their feet hurt." She is the perfect shopper to try on and review the newest shoes!!
I now hand the blogging baton over to MissVJ.
This shoe was the best-fitting of the closed-toe D’Orsay’s I tried. It has a comfortable toe-box which seems to be missing from this type of shoe. The heel fit nicely around my foot and walking in it was easy. Unfortunately, I returned it because the “denim” style wasn’t what I was looking for in a D’Orsay. If you want a nice alternative to Tom’s Shoes, this one fits the bill. Miss VJ’s rating: 4 out of 5stars.
This shoe didn’t fit. My toes were cramped in the front and the heel slipped. I don’t think the problem would have been solved with a different size, just not a good fit for me. I have purchased – and worn the heck out of – Chinese Laundry shoes so I can’t completely blame the brand. As I discovered with many D’Orsays like this style, fit and comfort are a delicate balance.

This shoe is a keeper! This really surprises me because Franco Sarto has long been a weird (read: uncomfortable) fit for me. I wear an 8.5 and sometimes a 9. On the advice of the online retailer from whom I bought these, I ordered an 8 and I’m glad I did. Because the toe-box is less cone-shaped than other D’Orsays, this shoe gives your toes more room. The peep-toe styling of this shoe gives it a different look compared to the closed-toe styles. It has a Mediterranean feel, like something I’d wear if I ever went to Greece. My only concern is will it stretch and conform to my foot. Only time (and wearing them on a hot day) will tell but in the meantime, I’m putting them into rotation.

This was the first D’Orsay I tried and I returned them because I felt that at that price, they should fit like a glove. They didn’t. The leather was soft but they were way too loose. Wearing them around, I felt like a person who buys expensive things because she can and doesn’t really care if it looks good or not. Since that isn’t me at all, back they went.

This shoe was probably the biggest disappointment because it is the best looking of the shoes I tried. However, not only did it not fit, it smushed my toes into a stiff, cone-shaped toe box. I know I’m going to return a shoe when I don’t bother to take the other one out of the box. But it’s cool-looking and it has a slight heel which makes it look more sophisticated. It’s a shame, really. Perhaps the suede versions are softer than the leather one I bought. I don’t want to hate on it too much, but I even tried it on again prior to writing this review and nope, doesn’t work for me. Sadly, they’ll go back.
