I'm Moving On....

I'm rebranding, I've got a new blog, The Barefoot Fashionista. My format will be the same - a little trend, a little celebrity fashion, a little shopping, and lots of fun, styley sets.

And for those of you in the know, I am indeed naming my blog, The Barefoot Fashionista in honor of my arthritic feet that have not seen a glorious pair of shoes in years! But remember, just because I'm barefoot, does not mean you have to be!

So bring on the shoes! the glorious shoes!

Style Diva: Diane

Style Diva: Diane
Lifestyle: Work is business casual with occasional need for professional business wear. Social life is active and global.
Style: dramatic/romantic
Style Icon: Sarah Jessica Parker
Wardrobe Dilemma: finding clothes to fit her tiny frame. Diane is very petite and very fit so it is very easy for her to be overwhelmed by clothes that are big and boxy. We've found clothes that fit well in the petite department and in the contemporary department.
Why I love dressing Diane: She can wear heels and wears them well. She loves a good shoe and good bag. She is very adventuresome and is not afraid of a look that will get her noticed! Plus, she's gorgeous!

A Note from Guest Blogger Miss VJ and a Favorite Pair of Shoes!!

Charlotte Olympia Glitter Kitty, $695.
I'm Miss VJ! I'm a (late) 40-something who lives and works in the Pacific North West. Like any red-blooded American working girl, I love shoes. My philosophy is simple: I don't have a big closet and refuse to own more shoes than I could possibly wear in a month. The shoes I own should be well-made, functional but stylish and most of all, comfortable. My quest for comfort, regardless of style or heel height, has become a lovely obsession. If I'm going to spend my hard-earned money on shoes, they better be good to me! I'm not a shoe snob and will try any brand, regardless of price. However, the more expensive a pair of shoes are, the more I expect from them. No blisters - ever. Very little if any "break-in" time. I can walk down the street and not start limping. I hope my reviews are helpful and save you time and money.

Guest Blogger MissVJ - Shoe Shopper Extraordinaire!!

MissVJ - Shoe Shopper Extraordinaire! has been kind enough to try on and review the various versions of the d'orsay flat that I have been advocating for Spring.  MissVJ loves shoes, both flats and heels and is always willing to try a new style. She will not sacrifice comfort for fashion because she knows my mantra well - "Ain't nobody pretty when their feet hurt." She is the perfect shopper to try on and review the newest shoes!!

I now hand the blogging baton over to MissVJ.

This shoe was the best-fitting of the closed-toe D’Orsay’s I tried. It has a comfortable toe-box which seems to be missing from this type of shoe. The heel fit nicely around my foot and walking in it was easy. Unfortunately, I returned it because the “denim” style wasn’t what I was looking for in a D’Orsay. If you want a nice alternative to Tom’s Shoes, this one fits the bill. Miss VJ’s rating: 4 out of 5stars.
This shoe didn’t fit. My toes were cramped in the front and the heel slipped. I don’t think the problem would have been solved with a different size, just not a good fit for me. I have purchased – and worn the heck out of – Chinese Laundry shoes so I can’t completely blame the brand. As I discovered with many D’Orsays like this style, fit and comfort are a delicate balance. Miss VJ’s rating: 2 out of 5 stars.

This shoe is a keeper! This really surprises me because Franco Sarto has long been a weird (read: uncomfortable) fit for me. I wear an 8.5 and sometimes a 9. On the advice of the online retailer from whom I bought these, I ordered an 8 and I’m glad I did. Because the toe-box is less cone-shaped than other D’Orsays, this shoe gives your toes more room. The peep-toe styling of this shoe gives it a different look compared to the closed-toe styles. It has a Mediterranean feel, like something I’d wear if I ever went to Greece. My only concern is will it stretch and conform to my foot. Only time (and wearing them on a hot day) will tell but in the meantime, I’m putting them into rotation. Miss VJ’s rating: 4 out 5 stars.
This was the first D’Orsay I tried and I returned them because I felt that at that price, they should fit like a glove. They didn’t. The leather was soft but they were way too loose. Wearing them around, I felt like a person who buys expensive things because she can and doesn’t really care if it looks good or not. Since that isn’t me at all, back they went. Miss VJ’s rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
This shoe was probably the biggest disappointment because it is the best looking of the shoes I tried. However, not only did it not fit, it smushed my toes into a stiff, cone-shaped toe box. I know I’m going to return a shoe when I don’t bother to take the other one out of the box. But it’s cool-looking and it has a slight heel which makes it look more sophisticated. It’s a shame, really. Perhaps the suede versions are softer than the leather one I bought. I don’t want to hate on it too much, but I even tried it on again prior to writing this review and nope, doesn’t work for me. Sadly, they’ll go back. Miss VJ’s rating: 2 out of 5
