I will be the first to admit that these pants are hard to wear. I will also be the first to admit that I will not be wearing these this season. For those of you who are lucky enough to have lean hips and thighs and long legs, go for it! And enjoy. And feel for those of us who cannot.
My Mission: End the early-morning closet staredown. It is not enough to find great pieces for a wardrobe, it is important that these pieces work together. I try to create wardrobes that work for the everyday, but include the fashion-forward, beautiful pieces that make fashion fun!

How to Wear the Classic Trouser
The most important thing to keep in mind when wearing the classic trouser is the length. Your legs should look as long as possible. Your legs should look as long as Shelley Hack's in the old Charlie perfume ad. You should always wear heels with trousers, high heels are best, and your pants should be hemmed to within 1/2" from the floor. Bring your shoes when you get your pants hemmed. For my tall friends, many companies now have tall length pants. Buy the tall pants and get them hemmed to the right length.

How to Wear Cropped Trousers
Cropped trousers can be tricky to pull off. A few things to keep in mind: wear with heels, even if just a low wedge, keep the top lean and close to the body, and always, always emphasize your waist. If you don't have a waist, skip these pants.

How to Wear Your Black Ankle Pants
The black ankle pant is one of the few pants that can be worn with flats as well as with heels. Because of the length of the pant, this is a great opportunity to showcase your most fabulous shoes.

Online Find: Lace blouse
I love this blouse, but would probably have it hemmed about 3-4 inches to keep the leg line long.

Accessorie Alert: Straw Fedora
Every year I am in hot pursuit of a non-dorky hat that I can wear in the scorching sun at my son's soccer games. Until now, I have failed miserably. Always a hat and always dorky. This hat might actually save me this year. I'll wear it with a camp shirt, madras plaid shorts and huaraches. My son will be so pleased.

Looks I Like: Kate Bosworth Working the Summer Leather
Kate Bosworth is almost catching up with the other Kate (Moss, not Middleton) in being the ultimate stylista. It is one thing to look good on the red carpet with a gaggle of stylists monitoring your every wrinkle, another thing entirely to look so stylish on the way to the grocery store. Admit it, you know what I'm talking about. Trips to the grocery store, often not the most glamorous. Kate looks like she just rolled out of bed, yet looks completely pulled together and so, so stylish.

Spring Trend Alert: Stripes!
While the striped nautical shirt has been a wardrobe staple for years, fashion designers have upped the excitment of the mundane stripe this season by showing it in bright, candy colors. If the color of your stripes can be found in a bag of Skittles, consider yourself right on trend.
